Woodard Family Foundation, Cottage Grove, OR

Please note that our funding guidelines recently changed!

Mission Statement

Woodard Family Foundation grantmaking is primarily dedicated to organizations in the greater Cottage Grove, Oregon area where the Woodard Family Foundation was founded in 1952, and where today the Woodard family is an employer and active in community affairs. Internal consideration is next given to communities where Woodard family members live.

Funding Guidelines

First, the foundation only accepts unsolicited grant requests from the greater Cottage Grove, Oregon area. Second, agencies within the greater Eugene-Springfield area must first submit a one-page letter of inquiry outlining a specific amount and purpose. Notification will later be given if the board desires a full proposal. Finally, all other funding occurs only through a targeted initiative originating with one or more members of the Woodard Family.

Preference is given to specific projects over general operating support, prevention over rehabilitation; independent charitable organizations over traditionally tax payer supported organizations.

Proposal Review and Grant Decisions

The Woodard Family Foundation is once again accepting grant applications not to exceed $5,000 per grant applicant.

Summer Schedule:

March 31: Deadline to submit letter of initial inquiry (required for agencies not based in Cottage Grove.)

April 30: WFF will respond YES/NO to submitting a full proposal

May 31: Deadline to submit a full proposal for Cottage Grove-based agencies AND others invited to submit a full proposal ($5,000 maximum per request)

September 30: WFF will respond YES/NO to submitting a full proposal

October 31: Deadline to submit a full proposal for Cottage Grove-based agencies AND others invited to submit a full proposal ($5,000 maximum per request)

January: Board meeting

If a proposal or letter or inquiry has been declined it should not be resubmitted unless the Board requests a re-submittal with changes from the original declined proposal.

The Board discourages annual fund appeals, even if the applying organization was recently successful in obtaining funding from the foundation.

Site visits are frequently conducted and initiated by the foundation.

In determining whether or not to submit a proposal for review you are welcome to contact Casey Woodard, President and Executive Director, Woodard Family Foundation at (541) 942-4113 to discuss.
